June 16 & 17 – Talent & Spirit Showcase
TWENTY SIX YEARS, yes you are reading that right, this will be the 26th year for the Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay. We have had numerous title sponsors, but none better than our current one, the Money Mart Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay is “Rocking” into a “Jazzy” new year. We will be the best in the “Country”, no one will have the “Blues”. You will be “Rapping” on doors to collect pledges, and hundreds of us will be “Hip Hopping” around the track for 24 hours.
If you haven’t figured it out yet, Rock Around the Clock! - is the 2012 theme for the Money Mart Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay. We will be rockin’ out at Rundle Park all night long! Expect a full 24 hours of jam-packed entertainment to keep everyone grooving right through the day and night. We’ve got a full score of fantastic musical entertainment and activities to keep things pumping for a full 24 hours. Grab your cowboy hat, 80′s hair band wig, MC Hammer pants, or Go-Go boots because this is going to be a Relay to remember! ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK is the theme, and we’re embracing every music style imaginable! Expect music to be the highlight of the day, because we’re bringing in some of the hottest local musical talent imaginable, and it’s all for a fantastic cause.
We’re also extremely excited to present the 1st Annual New Artist Showcase Competition!! That’s right – we want to find the most talented musicians Edmonton has to offer and put them head to head for the title of ‘Best New Artist’. Duo or soloist acts are welcome to compete (registration is free!!), and even non-Relay participants may enter the competition… though the judges will give extra points to bands who enter in a Relay team. There will be more details coming later as to the judging criteria and prizes, but we’re planning on accepting CD or MP3 samples up until April 30th. Initial judging will be done internally with the music samples, and then 12 musicians/bands will be selected to compete live at the event. So spread the word! Easter Seals Alberta is putting on a party with a purpose and it is going to be THE event of the year!
