24 Hour Relay

June 20 & 21, 2009
June 20 & 21, 2009
  • Runners participating in an event of this nature should train adequately. Remember, this is not a race so encourage runners to go at their own pace and have fun. Wear proper running shoes, have extra socks to help avoid blisters and warm up and cool down before and after each lap, including stretching.
  • Remember to eat properly, avoiding fatty foods. Emphasize carbohydrate intake the day before the Relay.
  • Drink 1-2 cups of water 10-15 minutes prior to each run. There is a water station on the course (see map), Don't hesitate to stop briefly for a drink if the weather is warm.
  • Bring warm clothing for the night hours and rain gear in case of inclement weather.
  • Appoint someone on your team to be the first aid coordinator - come prepared with aspirin, ice, bandages etc. St. John Ambulance will be available on-site (they will not dispense any medication, not even aspirin).
  • Don't forget sunscreen, insect repellant and a lawn chair to relax in while you aren't on the track.
  • Teams are encouraged to wear team t-shirts in order to be easily indentifiable and to encourage spectator support along the course.
  • Oodles and oodles more information and tips in the Team Captains Manual.
